Vision

That all Canadians honour the rights of persons living with learning disabilities and associated challenges to thrive.

Mission

We empower and advocate for individuals with learning disabilities and associated ADHD, creating equal opportunities for all to succeed.

Values

  • Collaboration: We work in partnership with provincial and territorial associations, families, policymakers, educators, researchers, universities and business organizations to advance the agenda of individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Empowerment: We empower individuals with learning disabilities to achieve their equal rights.
  • Advocacy: We advocate for individuals with learning disabilities to receive the support they need at every stage of life to be successful.
  • Respect:  We recognize and value individuals with learning disabilities so they are respected for their unique strengths.
  • Forward Thinking:  We promote evidence-based research to support programs and opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities.

Who We Are

LDAC is a national, non-profit organization founded in 1963 and incorporated in 1971. The organization works with and supports the provincial and territorial associations as the national voice for persons with learning disabilities and those who support them.

LDAC is dedicated to having individuals with learning disabilities and associated ADHD:

  • function as full citizens;
  • develop to their potential; and
  • be recognized for their varied and significant contributions.

What We Do

LDAC accomplishes its goals through the following core activities:

Sensibilisation

Awareness and Education
Increasing understanding of learning disabilities among the public, employers, and policymakers.

Recherche

Research and Knowledge Mobilization
Promoting and disseminating evidence-based practices and research findings to improve outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities.

Plaidoyer

National Advocacy
Influencing federal policy and representing the interests of our provincial and territorial partners, and individuals with learning disabilities at the national level.

Capacity Building
Providing National consistency through resources, training, and support to strengthen provincial and territorial leaders, employees and volunteers’ ability to serve their local communities.
