Learning Disabilities Association of Canada Announces Appointment of New Executive Director

Ottawa - The Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) announced today that Judy Kerr has been appointed as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Judy joins LDAC from CHF (formerly the Canadian Hunger Foundation) where she served for six years as its Director of Canadian Programs. In that time, Judy grew the annual revenue base from $400,000 to $2.5 million. Judy was responsible for CHF’s fund development, marketing and communications, branding and global education program.

Her appointment follows an extensive recruitment process which began in July, 2006 when more than seventy applicants sought the position. “Judy was the unanimous first choice of the hiring committee” says Lynn Green who chaired the committee. “We’re delighted that she’s accepted our offer to join LDAC."

LDAC Board Chair, Fraser Green, is equally enthusiastic. “The LDAC Board has spent two years strategically determining the priorities that will carry us forward for the next decade. Judy is a tailor-made match with those priorities. We’re all very excited to put the rubber to the road.”

LDAC’s three principal corporate priorities are raising awareness of learning disabilities, increasing revenues and recruiting people to the cause who can move its agenda forward.

“At the end of the day, the LDAC opportunity was one I couldn’t say no to” said Kerr. “I’m a mom of three boys and two of them have learning disabilities – and I’ve spent more than my share of time with teachers, principals, tutors and school officials. I committed to giving it my all and hope that my experiences, skills and passion for the cause can move the organization forward.”

Judy Kerr will commence her duties at the LDAC National Office January 2, 2007.
